How to Obtain Police Reports and Arrest Records
The Boise Police Department has a Public Records Request Division that is responsible for receiving, maintaining and archiving criminal records. It is also charged with serving the public and processing requests for public records as efficiently as possible.
Who Can Request a Report
In compliance with state laws, access to incident reports and other police reports may be restricted to only authorized applicants. Requests can be made by witnesses or victims of a crime, insurance carriers, or legal representatives of victims.
How to Request Police Records
Residents can request specific records by filling out a public records request form. Requests must include the requester's name and contact details. How to Find Sex Offender Information
The Ada County Sheriff’s Office provides public access to information about persons convicted of committing sexual offenses. This is done in compliance with the Idaho "Sexual Offender Registration Notification and Community Right-to-Know Act.” Members of the public can conduct obtain information using an online search tool. Searches can be filtered by county name, ZIP code or name. It also provides a list of all registered sex offenders living within a one-mile radius from the searcher's address within Boise City.
How to Obtain Inmate and Jail Information
The Ada County Sheriff's Office maintains an online inmates roster, designed to help individuals locate inmates housed in any of its correctional facilities. Residents may also be able to request for records by contacting the county jail.

Crime Statistics
The Boise Police Department records and monitors city-wide crime statistics. Records released in 2017 reveal that the city recorded a total of 6,147 reported incidents, made up of 630 cases of violent crime and 5,517 property crime incidents. Larceny-theft accounted for a large percentage of crimes, with 71.7%, while burglaries and assaults made up 11.9% and 7.0% respectively.
Compared to the previous year, total crime increased by 5%. The property crime rate increased by 7% while violent crime decreased by 10%. Overall, the city crime rate was 1% lower than the national average, making Boise safer than 38% of the cities in the U.S.
Court Records
The Ada County district court presides over most civil and criminal cases. Interested parties can obtain court records online using the iCourt platform provided by the Idaho courts system. The online platform provides a central location where members of the public can search for county contact information and court records. Requesters will need to specify a county and the type of service required. County residents can also obtain records in person or via mail by contacting the County Clerk’s Office located at 200 W Front St, Boise, Idaho 83702. The office opens between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. from Monday through Friday. In addition to civil and criminal records, the County Clerk’s Office also oversees records of the juvenile court.
Vital Records
The City of Boise does not keep records on marriages, divorces, births, deaths, land titles or deeds, business names, or court cases. These records are kept with either the Ada County Recorder’s Office or the Bureau of Vital Statistics. The Ada County Recorder's Office has an online service that provides records covering its municipal areas. The records in its repositories can either be requested online, by mail or in person.
How to Obtain Divorce Records

How to Obtain Birth and Death Records
The Idaho Bureau of Vital Records is tasked with storing and managing vital record. Its services include providing access to certified copies of Idaho birth and death certificates for events that occurred in Boise City and the State of Idaho as a whole. Copies of Birth and Death Certificates can be ordered by mail or in person at:

A certified photocopy of a birth or death certificate can be ordered for $21.00. Each additional certified photocopy of that record, ordered at the same time, is $16.00. Personal check or money order should be made payable to "Idaho Vital Statistics." Birth and death certifications can only be released to individuals who qualify for eligibility, such as the parents, legal guardian, child or legal representative.
